PayRange Mobile App Device Registration

The PayRange App includes a streamlined registration process for adding devices. To register a device in the app, you must be logged in with credentials associated with an Operator Account.

Registration steps

Step 1: Register Device

  1. Open the PayRange App menu by tapping the menu icon (☰) in the upper left.
  2. Select Register Device.

Step 2: Enter Device Information

  • Serial Number & PIN: tap the camera icon to scan the BluKey barcode and capture the Serial Number and PIN (or enter both fields manually).
  • Machine ID: optional field used for internal machine tracking or asset numbers (not visible to consumers). Tap the camera icon to capture a serial number or asset sticker barcode, if available.
  • Position: should match the number decal affixed to the machine (if applicable; leave blank if number decals are not used). All machines in a location must have a unique Position ID.

Step 3: Enter Machine Information

  • Protocol (shown for BluKey Pro only): select the machine manufacturer.
  • Category: select the industry type (Laundry, Vending, Amusement, etc.).
  • Subcategory: select the option that matches the machine type.
  • Service Location: select the location type that matches the machine setting.
  • Machine Display Name: the machine description consumers will see in the app. For laundry, the display name automatically populates using Subcategory + Position (e.g. "Washer 01") but can be changed manually.
  • Scan-to-Pay: the code automatically populates based on the Position ID set previously (if applicable).

Step 4: Enter Location Information

  • Location Name: enter the name of the business or property where the device is installed. Location information is visible to consumers in their transaction history.
  • Address: enter the location address, or use one of these shortcuts:
    • Use Current Location: populates the address using the phone's location.
    • Use Last Entered: populates the address based on the last device registered.

Step 5: Device Preview

Picture Type: the app defaults to either Image or Position depending on device information.

  • Image: tap Select Picture to upload an image or open the camera to take a picture of the machine. For best results, take a clear, well-lit picture of the front of the machine after placing the appropriate PayRange decals.

    Note: if the picture will not upload, reduce the image size and/or resolution and try again.

  • Position: the app shows an image of the machine number based on the Position setting. We recommend the Position picture type when using number decals.

Step 6: Configure Device Pricing (if applicable)

This step only appears when registering BluKey Pulse devices.

  • Price and pulse timing must be set to match the machine settings. Create custom Price Profiles in the PayRange Manage dashboard before registration, or select from common preset profiles.
  • Add pricing rows as needed so users see all price options that appear on the machine.*
  • Select Advanced to view and edit Pulse Timing.*

Step 7: Device Registration Complete

After completing all steps, a Success dialog appears asking: Would you like to register another [machine] with same settings & pricing?

  • Yes: copies the Machine, Location, and Pricing settings to the next device. If applicable, the Position number automatically increases by one.
  • No: register a device for a machine with different settings.

Pricing and Pulse Timing Settings (BluKey Pulse)

Pricing

  • Description: tap the dropdown arrow to choose the Description that best matches the machine type and price selection. Choose from common laundry cycle terminology or generic terms for non-laundry applications.
  • Amount: the dollar amount the user will be charged.
  • # Pulses: the number of pulses the BluKey sends to the machine per transaction. In most cases, the machine receives 25 cents per pulse.
  • # Credits: only available when certain Descriptions are used, such as Credit, Quarter, Play, or Minutes. The Credits value is displayed in the app (e.g. "2 Quarters $0.50", "10 Minutes $1.00").
  • Cycle Time (in minutes): typically used for laundry applications. A timer starts in the user's app that corresponds to the cycle time for that option. To disable the timer for any price row, set Cycle Time to 0.
  • Timer Type: Reset or Add-on.
    • Reset: starts a new timer cycle. The timer resets to the set time regardless of any time remaining in the app.
    • Add-on: the specified time is added to the time remaining in the app.
  • Default: sets the default price displayed in the app when there are multiple pricing rows. Any row can be marked as default.

Advanced

Setting Default Description
Cash Value Per Pulse $0.25 The denomination of the coin acceptor being audited, if applicable.
Pulse On 100 ms Duration of each pulse in milliseconds. Some brands of laundry equipment require specific pulse durations. Review the appropriate PayRange Laundry Installation guide to determine the proper settings.
Pulse Off 100 ms Duration of the pause between each pulse in milliseconds. Increase the value to space out pulses if needed.
Pulse Inhibit Threshold 1200 ms Laundry applications only. Threshold for pulse length emitted by the machine to inhibit device payment after the cycle starts.
Pulse Max Width 800 ms Laundry applications only. Maximum duration of a pulse from coin input that the device will report as a cash transaction.
