PayRange Maintenance Feature

The Maintenance menu can be used to upload pending cash transactions, perform collections, update firmware, and view diagnostics for BluKey devices within range. For best results, increase the phone’s screen timeout to prevent data transfer interruption if the screen goes to sleep. The mobile device should be relatively centered between all machines but may need to be moved during the process in larger rooms for better connectivity with devices that are further away.

To use the Maintenance feature, open the PayRange App menu and tap on Maintenance (only accessible from operator mode). The Maintenance window opens on the first of three tabs: Collection, Firmware, and Diagnostics.

Collection

Devices with pending cash transactions are automatically selected. If Record Collection is checked, the upload is timestamped and can be viewed in the Manage dashboard Sales tab. Uncheck to simply upload pending transactions.

Procedure:

  1. Tap Upload Transactions
  2. App connects to device’s consecutively and provides the following feedback:
    1. “Connecting to BluKey” – tab will turn yellow
    2. “Initiating data transfer”
    3. “Uploading transactions” – status bar will show progress
    4. “Ending Collection”
  3. When each device is complete, the tab will change color:
    1. If the upload was not successful, the tab will turn red and the number of transactions that successfully uploaded will be displayed
    2. If the upload was successful, the tab will turn green
  4. After all devices have been completed, a Collection Summary will show cash and mobile transaction totals since the last collection. If any devices were unsuccessful, tap Retry; otherwise, tap Done.

Firmware

Devices with an update available will show a gray tab and are automatically selected.
Devices will show a green tab if no update is assigned.

Procedure:

  1. Tap Update Firmware
  2. App connects to device’s consecutively and provides the following feedback:
    1. “Connecting to BluKey” – tab will turn yellow
    2. “Updating firmware” – status bar will show progress
  3. When each device is complete, the tab will change color:
    1. If the firmware update was not successful, the tab will turn red and device will show “Failed to update firmware”
    2. If the firmware update was successful, the tab will turn green
  4. After all devices have been completed, a summary will show the number of devices that were successfully updated, and each device will display the updated firmware version. If any devices were unsuccessful, tap Retry; otherwise, tap Done.

Diagnostics

The color tab for each device will indicate its status in four areas.

  • Green check mark icon = ok
  • Yellow exclamation mark icon = needs attention
  • Registration – needs attention if device registration is not complete
  • Transaction – needs attention if there are pending transactions stored on device
  • Image – needs attention if no image has been uploaded
  • Firmware – needs attention if a firmware update is available
