PayRange App Device Registration

Registration Flow Update
iOS & Android PayRange App ver 6.4.3

PayRange App update for September 2020 includes an updated registration process that provides a more efficient and streamlined experience. To register a device in the app, user must be logged in with credentials associated with an Operator Account.

Register Device

Open PayRange App menu by tapping the ☰ menu icon in upper left.

Select Register Device.

Enter Device Information

  • Serial Number & PIN: tap the camera icon to scan BluKey barcode and capture Serial Number and PIN (or enter both fields manually).
  • Machine ID: optional field used for internal machine tracking or asset numbers (will not be visible to consumers). Tap the camera icon to capture serial number or asset sticker barcode if available.
  • Position: should match the number decal affixed to machine (if applicable; leave blank if number decals are not used). All machines in location must have unique Position ID.

Enter Machine Information

  • Protocol (shown for BluKey Pro only): select machine manufacturer
  • Category: select industry type (Laundry, Vending, Amusement, etc.)
  • Subcategory: select option that matches machine type
  • Service Location: select location type that matches machine setting
  • Machine Display Name: machine description that will be displayed to consumers in the app. For laundry, display name will automatically populate using Sub-category + Position (e.g. “Washer 01”) but may also be changed manually
  • Scan-to-Pay: code will automatically populate based on Position ID set previously (if applicable)

Enter Location Information

  • Location Name: enter name of business or property where device is installed. Location information will be visible to consumers within their transaction history.
  • Address: enter location address
    • Use Current Location – populate address using phone location
    • Use Last Entered – populate address based on last device registered

Device Preview

Picture Type: app will default to either Image or Position depending on device information.

  • Image – tap Select Picture to either upload an image or open the camera to take a picture of the machine. For best results, take a clear, well-lit picture showing the front of the machine after placing appropriate PayRange decals.

Note: if picture will not upload, reduce image size and/or resolution and try again.

  • Position – app will show image of machine number based on Position setting. It is recommended to use Position picture type when using number decals.

Configure Device Pricing (if applicable)

(This step will show only when registering BluKey Pulse devices)

  • Price and pulse timing must be set to match machine settings. Create custom Price Profiles through the PayRange Manage dashboard prior to registration or select from common preset profiles.
  • Add pricing rows as needed to provide users with all price options that appear on the machine*
  • Select Advanced to view and edit Pulse Timing*

*See Appendix below for description of price and pulse settings.

Device Registration Complete

After completing all steps, Success dialog will appear:
Would you like to register another [machine] with same settings & pricing?

  • Yes – copies Machine, Location and Pricing settings to the next device. If applicable, Position number will automatically increase by one.
  • No – register a device for a machine with different settings.

Appendix: Description of Pricing and Pulse Timing Settings (BluKey Pulse)

Pricing

  • Description: Tap the dropdown arrow to choose Description that best matches machine type and price selection. Choose from common laundry cycle terminology or generic terms for non-laundry applications
  • Amount: The dollar amount that the user will be charged.
  • #Pulses: Number of pulses the BluKey will send to the machine per transaction. In most cases, the machine will receive 25 cents per pulse.
  • #Credits: This field is only available when certain Descriptions, such as Credit, Quarter, Play or Minutes, are used. The Credits value will be displayed in the app (e.g. “2 Quarters $0.50”, “10 Minutes $1.00”).
  • Cycle Time (in minutes): Typically used for Laundry applications. A timer will start in user’s app that corresponds to the cycle time setting for that option. To disable a timer for any price row, set Cycle Time as ‘0’.
  • Timer Type: Reset or Add-on
    • Reset: (starts a new timer cycle) timer will reset with set time regardless of whether there is still time remaining showing in the app.
    • Add-on: time specified will be added on to the time remaining showing in the app.
  • Default: Set the default price to display in app when there are multiple pricing rows. Any of the rows can be marked as default.

Advanced

  • Cash Value Per Pulse (default is $0.25): The denomination of coin acceptor being audited, if applicable.
  • Pulse On (default is 100ms): Duration of each pulse in milliseconds. Some brands of laundry equipment require specific settings for pulse duration. Review the appropriate PayRange Laundry Installation guide to determine proper settings.
  • Pulse Off (default is 100ms): Duration of pause in between each pulse in milliseconds (default is 100ms). Increase value to space out pulses if needed.
  • Pulse Inhibit Threshold (default is 1200ms): Laundry applications only. Threshold for pulse length emitted by machine to inhibit device payment after cycle starts.
  • Pulse Max Width (default is 800ms): Laundry applications only. Maximum duration of pulse from coin input that device will report as a cash transaction.
