Vending machines report codes through telemetry for each coil or column from which product is sold. If the planogram in Vagabond receives a code that is inconsistent with the codes already recorded for that location, the system reports a “Default Product” (a misnomer for a data reporting discrepancy), see image below.
ePorts can be mapped in SeedLive to report the Coil Name (not the code). Vagabond doesn’t recommend this but some members prefer the Column Mapping functions in SeedLive so they are able to just list the Coil Name and Source Coil the same in Vagabond.
Over the years, Vagabond has collected hundreds of “secret decoder rings” for the various configurations of machines, UCBs, and devices. A Crane snack machine with an OEM board and a new ePort may report Source Coil codes differently than a USI snack machine with a Vendors Exchange UCB and an ePort Interactive.
Mapping is more art than science and often takes a couple tries to get it absolutely right. Use the Mapping in Vagabond for ePorts.xlsx as a guide.
Run simple reports for the last 20-30 days in SeedLive to check how sales reported from the machine to that system. Include cash and cashless sales. Generate the report in HTML. Click on the total amount to see the individual transactions. Click on the column heading: Items to sort by coil/column code. Take note of any patterns you see that correspond to the Source Coils in Vagabond. For instance:
According to this list, we can assume that the first coil in the first tray reports as 0010. We can assume there are five (5) coils in Tray 1: 0010, 0011, 0012, 0013, 0014. We can assume that Tray 2 starts with 0020 and has five (5) coils as well.
Using the Mapping in Vagabond for ePorts.xlsx, we see that this machine is most likely in the USI 3100 or 3500 series
This is how that location looks in Vagabond:
