Are you selling machines or routes to another member and need to transfer the locations to the new member's Vagabond account? This article covers what to know before a transfer, the steps for both Non-One Rate and One Rate Program devices, and the transfer fee schedule.
General things to know about transfers
- Cantaloupe's transfer policy may affect 2G/3G card readers that "sunset" in 2022. Buyers and sellers should contact Cantaloupe Customer Service for more details.
- Transfers ensure that planograms remain intact and sales report as expected.
- Vagabond transfers are processed on a first come, first served basis and take 2–3 business days to complete; transferring devices at Cantaloupe/PayRange may take longer.
- A new Vagabond member should attend the Getting Started training in order to know how to use all of the features of the system.
- Vagabond charges a flat-rate transfer fee (see the schedule below); Cantaloupe/PayRange may also charge transfer fees.
- For members participating in the One Rate Program, please contact Vagabond Support for additional information regarding transfer eligibility.
Steps for transferring Non-One Rate Program card readers/devices
- Contact Cantaloupe, Inc/PayRange as soon as reasonably possible to request the transfer of your card readers/devices to the buyer. Indicate when the buyer will be taking possession (when you would like the transfer to become effective). The buyer will need their own account with Cantaloupe, Inc/PayRange. Cantaloupe, Inc/PayRange may assess a transfer fee to the buyer per their corporate policies.
- Contact Vagabond Support (phone 202-695-8228, option 2, or email support@vgbnd.co) to let Vagabond know of the pending transfer. Provide the following information:
- The name of the buyer (if the buyer has not yet become a Vagabond Member, they can sign up through the Vagabond Marketplace).
- The effective date/time of the transfer.
- The serial numbers of card readers/devices being transferred (location names are helpful).
- Vagabond Support will reach out to the buyer to complete the steps necessary to receive sales data from Cantaloupe, Inc/PayRange and for the Vagabond web app to function properly, including an initial stock submission post-transfer.
- Once the transfer is complete, the buyer will be charged the Vagabond transfer fee (see schedule below).
ℹ️ Note: Transferring Vagabond Insights follows the same process described above, though there is no additional cost beyond the fees listed below.
Steps for transferring One Rate Program leased card readers/devices
- Contact Vagabond Support at vbsupport@payrange.zendesk.com to let Vagabond know of the pending sale. Provide the following information:
- The name and contact information of the buyer (if the buyer has not yet become a Vagabond Member, they must sign up through the Vagabond Marketplace).
- The effective date/time of the sale.
- The serial numbers of card readers/devices being sold (location names are helpful).
- Vagabond Support will reach out to the buyer to complete the paperwork required for all One Rate Program devices. Buyers may "assume" the One Rate agreement or "buyout" the One Rate Program devices.
- One Rate Program participants are financially obligated for all One Rate card readers/devices until the term ends, until the buyout clause is exercised, or until the card readers/devices are properly processed to a buyer. Term End paperwork is provided to One Rate Program participants in each case.
- Transfer fees for One Rate card readers/devices are assessed to the buyer per the transfer fee schedule below.
